I was chatting to one of the operators I use for Jeep adventures and whenever I chat to my operators/venues I always ask them how business is, what is working what is not, what patterns are emerging and most importantly where are they getting their customers from in this very challenging environment that tourism/hospitality faces.
So the first point to mention is that you need to build relationships with your Suppliers. Build really good relationships with them and treat them well, I say this because on many many occasions I’ve needed them to fix a situation to keep a customer happy.
It could be linked to pricing errors, package inclusions/exclusions or their experience expectations.
Anyway, building solid relationships with my suppliers has paid off, especially when I’m in a situation with a customer that needs fixing. The other point to make is that we can get allot of information about the present ‘landscape’ from those within our industry.
They can give you lots of tips without them knowing but just through sharing information. Keep this top of mind.
